The Pelvic Floor is the seat of our power. It is the origin of our entry to the world and the pivot about which our body moves. It’s the root of our axial skeleton and to ignore it is to neglect a great stabilizer and mobilizer of not only the trunk, but our limbs as well.
The pelvic floor is quite complex!
The muscles inside our pelvis are very important to our overall health. Because we don't see these muscles, we don't have the same awareness of them and their role in our bodies as we do with the larger muscles of our bodies that are easily visible.
We need to get to know the pelvic floor and learn what it needs so we can care for it and keep it healthy. If we look after the pelvic floor, it will look after us to provide us with support, force transduction, and translation. And that’s just the muscles!
We also need to consider the nerves, connective tissues, fluid pumps, circulation and breathing and emotional connections.
Who should take this course?
This course would be excellent for practitioners working with older adults, pregnant women and new mothers, people managing urinary and fecal incontinence, those experiencing post traumatic stress disorder or other emotional turmoil.
This course would also be helpful for people who tend to hold their breath and not use their 'core' effectively for general movement and daily function.
