We are what we eat. I've said it before, I'll probably say it again. Literally. What we put in our mouths is the foundation, the building blocks for our bodies. Putting chemicals in my body does not feel good, and I try to eat organic when I can. However, feeding 5 people organically all the time is expensive. When I'm standing in the fruit market (there's a sweet little place just across the street from us--Sunny Green) and I'm looking at the apples—which should I get? Regular apples at 99¢ a pound (yes, this is Canada and we're still paying for produce by the pound), or organic apples at $1.99 a pound. That's a big difference, and we eat a lot of apples. How about sweet potatoes? Organic sweet potatoes are double the price, too! I know there's a list, the dirty dozen, of the top twelve items you should try to eat organically. They're the ones that are most often to be found covered in pesticides. And then there's the clean fifteen, which contain far fewer and far less pesticides. I can never remember the list. Today I came across this great infographic (I love infographics!) that might help me remember. Here it is! Happy eating.
