Welcome to The Loft Join Jennifer on the 3rd floor of her home in Halls Creek. It's an intimate setting with small classes (no more than 8).
Classes are run in multi-week series with pre-registration. Jennifer has been practicing yoga for 20 years, and teaching for the last 9 years. She took a hiatus from teaching group classes during the pandemic, but is excited to now be teaching here in Moncton. You can read more about Jennifer here. Please email if you have questions! Rise & Shine is a 45-minute morning yoga class to get you going. There will be gentle movements, flow, some breathing, and a short meditation.

Based on the principles of an eight-limbed path, Stretch & Strength classes include working within an ethical code of behaviour, moving the body, learning to move and control the breath, awareness of attention, focus, concentration, and meditation.
Sometimes the movements we are doing with our bodies look and feel like yoga, and sometimes they are more like Pilates, exploratory or functional movements, or even play. Jules Mitchell says, "All movement is good movement if the tissues can withstand the load." Because of this, in my opinion, there are no "bad" yoga postures, only less appropriate postures for a particular class or practitioner. In the same way, I think that all movements, if done from a place of mindfulness, can be considered yoga. I always teach to whomever is in the room. Because of that, beginners are welcome, as are well-seasoned practitioners. These classes are 75 minutes, run in pre-registered multi-week series. You might see these props in any class, but particularly in Stretch & Strength.

If you have back pain, this is the class for you!
ELDOA is a system of exercises used to create more space through your spine, as well as in the peripheral joints. It's used to help relieve back pain and correct posture. Created by French Osteopath Guy VOYER, DO, each exercise takes only a minute to do. It's simple and effective. I am convinced ELDOA is going to keep me mobile for years to come. And I sleep so well afterwards. It's amazing! In an ELDOA class, after a warmup, we'll do a series of ELDOA postures, working to hold each one for up to 1 minute. Each posture is targeted at one joint, through the spine, the shoulders, the hip, the ribs. You use your own strength to create a little bit more space in the joint which will help to keep the joint well lubricated, moving well, and will help to reduce pain in the body.
These classes are 60 minutes, run in pre-registered multi-week series. Join Jennifer for this Restorative Yoga Class with Yoga Nidra. We are under a tremendous amount of stress in our lives. Our daily routines, our busy families and jobs. For many people, the past few years have brought with then an increase in the emotional load they carry, with new work and family stress, as well as periods of isolation. It’s important to find ways to relieve this stress in our bodies. When we practice Restorative Yoga, we allow the body to release and relax. The more we practice coming back to this relaxed state, the more easily we can move there when we are under stress. It's teaching the nervous system a skill that we can call on when needed. Yoga Nidra, literally Yogic Sleep, is a guided meditation done in savasana, lying down on your back (or in any position that may work best for you). “In yoga nidra, we restore our body, senses, and mind to their natural function and awaken a seventh sense that allows us to feel no separation, that only sees wholeness, tranquility, and well-being,” says Richard Miller, a San Francisco Bay Area yoga teacher and clinical psychologist. Relax & Renew classes will run bi-weekly, limited to 6 people. |

We can meet here in The Loft, or in your own home or office, as suits our schedules. We can also work over Zoom. Purchase 1 session, or save 20% and purchase 10 sessions up front. *Please note — this is not Yoga Therapy. FAQs
Do I Have to Bring a Yoga Mat With Me?
You can bring your own mat with you, or you can use one of the studio mats. Use of the mats is free — please wipe them off with the spray cleaner provided when you are finished.
The space is also equipped with blocks, straps, blankets, and lots of other fun props that we might use in class. (They are cleaned regularly.)
Restorative Classes are usually set up with studio mats on the floor before we begin. Because there are so many props we use in a Restorative Class, I find it simpler this way. If you would prefer to use your own mat, you can make the switch when you arrive.

Is There PArking?
There is no parking on Marjorie Street between 10 and 11 am, or before 7am in the winter. Besides that, it is first come, first serve for street parking. Park on the opposite side of the street from 21 Marjorie.
Can I Pay with My Debit Card or CRedit Card?
All classes are pre-registered and pre-paid using either PayPal or Square payment processing (your choice at checkout).
How Long Before Class Begins Should I Arrive?
The front door will be opened 15 minutes before class begins. Please be careful to keep the cats inside the house.

Is There Somewhere I Can Change?
As this is my home, there are no changerooms, However, there is a single washroom on the second floor that is available for you to use.
DO YOU GIVE HANDS-ON ADJUSTMENTS IN CLASS?
In drop-in classes, I give very few assists or adjustments, but I do occasionally touch people — there is a little head and neck massage I sometimes give at the start of savasana. I use CONSENT CARDS to help people communicate with me if this is ok. What are consent cards? I wrote a blog post about it if you'd like to learn more about them.
In the Restorative Yoga Classes, there are lots of gentle hands-on assists and mild adjustments. In ELDOA classes I often touch people very gently to help direct their movement and attention in the postures. I'll be using consent cards here as well, so if you aren't comfortable with that, you can easily let me know.

How aRE YOU handling COVID-19?
I had a whole scheme planned out with masking as you move through the house, but it was complicated. So, if you've been exposed to COVID (or RSV, or another illness), please mask up. And if you're feeling any symptoms, please stay home. Let's use our common sense and maitri (loving-kindness) to keep each other safe and healthy.
If there are outbreaks of COVID or RSV in the coming months, a masking policy may be implemented. As an Integrative Breathing Therapist I can assure you that is possible to practice yoga with your mask on, and I'm happy to chat with anyone about the science behind masking and breathing.

Do you offer Refunds?
I do not offer refunds. Please speak to me directly or email me if you have a problem. I might be able to offer a credit for future classes, depending on the circumstances.
Weather Policy
If there a weather system that stops people from being able to get to class, you will be credited with a class, either for another class that week (if there is room, and if you are available) or for a deduction from a future class registration.
