Service Description
This weekly online 1-hour class offers a progressive practice of traditional pranayama. We will explore the fundamental components of breath practice — puraka (inhalation) rechaka (exhalation) gentle and appropriate forms of kumbhaka (breath retention) You will be guided through foundational techniques including: awareness of natural breath lengthening and balancing inhale and exhale simple ratio breathing introductory practices including ujjayi, anuloma viloma, and nadi shodhana additional techniques including bhramari, sitali, as well as bandhas Our emphasis is on steadiness, clarity, and respect for individual capacity. Breath is never forced; practices are built gradually so that the nervous system remains flexible and the mind attentive. Pranayama occurs between asana (movement practices) and meditation. Both will be included in this class. Please note that it is important that you not eat for at least 2 hours before practicing pranayama.
